Pub Management, Bar Management and Club Management

Dating back thousands of years, liquor has been a product in huge demand by the public. Historically man has always had a fondness for spirits which is an enormous benefit for restaurants of today who wish to capitalize on the potential extra earning opportunity of running bars and or clubs both during and after their regular dining hours.

The excitement and fun atmosphere of bar management is certainly one of the highlights of the hospitality industry but there is also a lot of hard work involved in running a successful, profitable drinking establishment. Bars, lounges and clubs each come with their own unique challenges. When managed properly, there is no doubt about it, a bar business can be a huge contributor to a restaurant’s bottom line! Below are a few of the basic bar management issues that Philadelphia Restaurant Consultant can help you with:

Keeping the books…

Cash Handling – counting tills and tip outs…

Beverage Inventory Control…

Ordering and maintaining proper stock levels…

Drink comps, spills and remakes…

Theft…

Scheduling…

Managing bar staff…interviewing, hiring, creating bar staff job descriptions…

The Law – legal and business ramifications of alcohol management and service…

Liquor, beer, wine…working with distributers on joint marketing ventures…

Designing drink menus and specialty drink recipes…

Bartenders and wait-staff supervision, recruiting, hiring, training and motivating…

Coordinating your bar with your kitchen…

The fine art of pairing food with wine, beer and spirits…

Adding LIVE MUSIC!

Dealing with rude customers, security issues and violence…

*If your bar is not very busy then you probably can’t afford to pay for a security guard or bouncers. The best bartender rule for dealing with trouble or violence is; try, at all costs, to avoid coming out from behind the bar.  Raise your voice and attempt to take control verbally, while you are dialing 911. The only time I would ever advise coming out from behind the bar would be in defense of the staff and even then, yell loudly! Shout several times (to staff mostly), for someone to call 911!

Is your bar business in a PICKLE? Do your customers say your drink menu is CHEESY? Do you RELISH some fine advice to turn the beverage part of your food and beverage business from a SPUD into a dynamic, driving force influencing the rest of your business growth? Bar management, marketing and promotion is a specialty of ours!
